Week 7 - Light & Shadow

In this drawing it shows simplicity. The objects show depth and overlap, this kind of 3D and depth is done by the light and shading. To start with you can clearly see the lamp behind the other two objects. When placing the objects I did so by placing them so that they overlap but the light still affected each object. By creating the different shading on the objects it gives the arrangement more of a flow.

You can see on the drawing that the light is coming from left to right. This is shown very clearly on the lampshade and body. This is one of the main focal points of the drawing. With the crease line of the lampshade it shows that this is not really affected by the lamp. In this drawing i think I could have done it in a different perspective because in the one i was using it shows no table shadows. However i feel that the shading has been done well on all of the objects.

Week 6 - Arrangements & Composition

In this drawing it shows a very simple arrangement of the objects but shows depth in each object. With the lamp clearly behind the other two in the drawing. When placing the objects I did so by placing them so that they overlap. The objects show clear black lines for the lines and corners of each of the different object, which brings the arrangement and gives a flow. For my eye the main ball in the middle is where you start and then down to the box then up to the lamp. This has more of a flow to the drawing. The drawing is very simple but is arranged in that way. This is so that you have less to look at and your eye is drawn toward a certain object.

Week 4/5 - Shape and silhouette / Form & Contours Week

These drawings were done in lesson. The image below was a practice in some of the ways of how to create the shapes with no details on any of the objects. This was to get the feel for the objects. The image above shows some of these practices in use, it shows the darker colours but not on the outside but on the inside of the objects and the darker tones show silhouette in a different way. By the darker tones on the objects they draw attention more but are not complex. All of the objects sit with each other and look very contained in a smaller space. With the darker areas you can clearly see each object against its background.

Week 4/5 - Shape and silhouette / Form & Contours Week

Using contours is very useful with different objects that have curves as well as shape and form. The lines of the contours show the way the curves of the objects are. Example of this is the glass on the right, by creating contours on the object it shows the curve. Then by creating the shadow from the contour the curve of the glass is shown more clearly. In the image below it shows what has been done in lesson and shows a set of objects. These objects all have contours in place and some shading done on them. This shows clearly the way the object is and the shape of the objects from that perspective. The shape of the skull is a very clear one, with the horn having a clear roundness shape to it. These give a depth of an objects and how you would normally see a curve. When using highlights and shading it can give an object a better 3D and curved look which makes it more realistic. This is shown on both images with the image on the top with the glass and the image below with the Jug.
